B1 GIVE ITS FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF CAMP

B1 has a number of campers who are here for the very first time. Here’s how camp looks to the B1 first timers:

David Andrew --Archery is one of my favorite sports.  Using my muscles to shoot the arrow with the bow makes me strong.  Sometimes I can hit the target, and that makes me feel good.  Also just holding the bow and arrow brings me happiness.

David Browning--I like swimming because here at Camp McKenzie it is really fun going swimming but the pool is only five feet deep but at least it cools you down. There are two lifeguards. It is deep enough for you to jump into five feet of water.

John Traver--At camp I expected nice, and real positive, shy people. There are a lot of different people to meet, I’ve already met some new friends that like the same things that I like. One kid named Alex acts and sort of looks like my old friend that moved to Denver, Colorado. Alex styles his hair like me. He’s on the top bunk like me, but he is diagonal to the right. I expect a lot of other things and hope to have a blast.

Chandler Hendrickson--Today I went and played basketball and had a lot of fun. I also enjoyed learning more about archery. I have real nice staff counselors--Mr. Doug and Mr. Frank

Justin Kovanis--When I came to camp I was very excited about playing basketball. I thought it had very good basketball courts. I liked to lower the basket and slam-dunk. This is the beginning of camp and I already know everybody in my cabin and have a lot of friends. I’m excited about having a good time and playing basketball.

Greg Wubben--I like to swim because I enjoy jumping and stroking and swimming around in the pool. I think this church camp is a very good camp for me and everyone. I’m learning a lot about the bible and learning more and more about camp

The Friends I Made at Camp
by
Hans-Peter Klet

At first I was very nervous about the people in my dorm.  Everyone was very friendly, so friendly that it made me even more nervous!  I almost didn’t want to eat.

But by the end of the day I felt a lot more comfortable.  I learned where everything was and began to fit in.  I learned all the other campers’ names after a while.  My best friend at camp is Trevor.  Chandler is always the hyper one, while Luke is always the quiet one.  I made a lot of good friends that I hope to see next year.

B-1 B-Wonderful

What can we say to a group of guys so awesome other than, “wow”!

The way you all pulled together as a true team during ropes course, flag football, k.p. and various other activities was really a treat to see. We were blessed to be a part of it with you. And super congratulations on your “B1 vs. G1 cleanest dorm challenge” victory! But maybe more importantly, your sincere participation and strong desire for learning God’s way of life during your Christian Living and Relationships classes brilliantly assured us about why we come to camp each year to counsel. We don’t think we’ve ever met a more spiritually mature group of young men.

The experiences we’ve all shared here at Camp McKenzie will be remembered clearly in our minds and fondly in our hearts for many years to come. Thank you, gentlemen of B1, for making the time we spent with you our best week of the year!

Much love,

Mr. Frank and Mr. Doug
