“Surviving the heat”
Question: What methods did you use to escape the heat during the day and night?
Mr. Dick: “On day one, everyone in our chalet had fans in their bedrooms, including the Segalls and Mr. White and Mr. Cafourek. Instead of cooling the place down, all the fans really did was drown out the
snoring.”
Mr. Walker: “I have it made because the ropes course is in the shade…it’s the second coolest place besides the pool!”
Mrs. Reeves: “I’ve been drinking lots of water and going into the walk-in fridge as much as possible. At night we survive with open windows and fans.”
Sean Braxton: “During the day I relax in the gym, but at night the RV I sleep in turns into a boiler room, causing me to eventually pass out.”
Now, what you’ve all been waiting for, the mystery of mysteries, the big question...how did B-4 escape the sweltering heat?
As sweat rolled down Mr. Daniel Graham’s face, a little light bulb popped on above his head. “I have an idea,” he said. And with that, the rest of B-4 could only wait in anticipation for what he had in store
for us.
Monday arrived and so did Mrs. Graham. She pulled her car up to the dorm, popped the trunk, and we gazed at the most beautiful sight in the world…a portable air conditioner, accompanied by a box fan and a care
package the size of a suitcase.
Nighttime finally came, and it was time to convert our room from oven to refrigerator.
First we made a curtain on our side of the dorm, closing off any air that could possibly drift over from B-3. Then the air conditioner was plugged in on one side of the room, and the box fan on the other side,
creating some excellent circulation.
With sighs of relief and comfort, our dorm, or should I say our oasis, was now suitable for the high standards of B-4. In fairness, we will spare you all of the delicious details of when Mr. Dan opened up the
suitcase sized care package.
In closing, we would like to apologize to Mr. Walker, as we officially made the ropes course the third coolest spot in camp.
