TO BE “IN THE WORLD”
 AND
NOT “OF” THE WORLD
by Teresa VanAusdle

What does it mean to be “in the world” and not “of the world”? Well, it means that even if you are around the world all of your life, you shouldn’t do all of the things that they do.

An example of that would be a fish that lives in an ocean or a sea. It lives in salt water all of its life and yet when you catch the fish you still have to add salt. In other words, just because it lives in the saltwater doesn’t mean that it needs to absorb it. That is what we need to do--not absorb the world around us just like the fish.

“LOVE”
by Roxanne Zavala

What’s Love

Love is true
Love is caring about someone
Love can hurt sometimes when you are not careful
Love is being with someone you love truly
Love is passion
Love is trusting someone
Love is something you can feel from the heart
Love is something that you can’t really explain

 That’s Love

THE HIKE

by Cassie Hendrickson

The way up to the hike was so fun. We rode in vans of like 10 to 12 people, and me (Cassie), Christina and Erica sang the whole way up and annoyed everyone. On the way down we (me), Erica and Christina sang, “I’m A Little Teapot”, the song that never ends, (but it did) and “Ninety-Nine Bottles of Pop on the Wall, all the way down to 1!

FIRST IMPRESSION OF CAMP MCKENZIE
by Crystal Bruce

This is a nice place. The outdoor setting is peaceful and godly. The staff is very nice. I especially like the dorm counselors and the kitchen staff. Arts and crafts are neat, and all the staff members are very very nice.

I like the godly attitude from everybody here, and how they make me feel a part of everything. So everyone who wants to come, come--it is fun!

G-2 COUNSELORS’ CORNER

You are worth loving. God’s love is unconditional, unselfish, forgiving and unending. Are you convinced that you are special? It’s true. There will never be another you. God loves you. All that you are and all that you are not. God has loved you for all eternity. He planned for you; He longed to share His life, His joy and His love with you!

(Excerpts from God Thinks You’re Positively Awesome by Andrea Stephens)

Never forget that you are a Very Important Girl!

Miss Barbara Nickels

Being my first camp experience as a co-counselor I am blessed to have a dorm as great as G-2. These ladies are smart, loving, have a willingness to learn and help and have their hearts aimed at God. Through thick and thin just remember, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you.”

G-2, thank you for making this year at camp so awesome.

I love you girls!

Love,

Miss Judy Hernandez
