Financial Statement Notes
Churches of God Cyber Auxiliary
For period from January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004

The year of 2004 started with significant trials for CGCA. As noted in the previous year financials, hackers had started to become a problem for CGCA in October of 2003. The first quarter of 2004 server reliability continued to be a problem. In order to protect the server we continued to retain the services of security expert, Forest Leonard who works in Network Security Support at Symantec Corporation located in Eugene, Oregon. In April he donated a licensed copy of Redhat Enterprise 3 Linux operating system. The operating system was installed by Conculogic, Inc. On August 2nd CGCA placed an order for the purchase of a new server from Conculogic, Inc.

Since the new operating system was installed on the old server the hacker problems have disappeared. In September, Conculogic enhanced the cooling system on the old server which further improved reliability of the system.

Currently, the plan is to test and install the new server in the first half of 2005.

Note 1:
In April CGCA purchased a new power supply from Staples for $99.98 and two 80 gig hard drives for $170.00 from MSD Computer Supply. In August, purchased the following configured new server from Conculogic, Inc. for $4,395.00:

  • SuperMicro SC833T-760B Chassis - 3U, 760W triple Redundant PS, 8 Hot Swap drive bays, 4 x 9cm hot-swap fans, 2 x 8cm rear exhaust fans
  • Two Intel Xeon 2.8Ghz with 800Mhz Bus
  • Dual Xeon CPU Motherboard SuperMicro X6DAE-G2-O
  • 2GB DDR2 400Mhz Registered ECC RAM, Micron or equivalent (2 Sticks 1 gig each)
  • 4 Port SATA RAID Controller 3Ware Escalade 9500S-4LP
  • 4 160GB SATA Hard Drives 7400rpm 8MB Cache, Seagate or equivalent
  • Slim CD-ROM
  • ATI Xpert 98 8MB PCI Video (video not included on this motherboard)
  • IPMI SMC-0001 Support for Intelligent Platform Management Interface 1.5
  • Integrated Dual Gigabit Ethernet Network
  • Teac Floppy Drive
  • Rack mounting rails
  • Setup / Burn-in
  • 2 Year On-Site Parts and Labor Warranty.

Note 2:
On December 24 purchased three (3) RealNetworks Annual Updates & Service agreement packages at $638.40 each giving a total of $1,915.20 for the year 2005.

Note 3:
The majority, $4,464.96, of consultant expenses were paid to Forest Leonard for services to enhance security of the server.
