Bible Study...Mysteries of God
Does God Really Exist?
What are the Proofs?
Does God Really Exist? Can it be proven Scientifically?
Many wonder, 'Does God really exist?' How can we know for sure? The Bible says that we should "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" (1 Thes. 5:21).
If scientists can't find or communicate with God, can they prove His existence scientifically? The answer is YES! Many have! See how in the "Proofs of God" below.
Believing or proving God exists is one thing, but then, how can one communicate with God whom they have never seen or heard? For the answer to that question see How can you Talk with God? Check this out - "Prayer...Talking with God"
What are the Proofs of God?
The Bible reveals that "God is Spirit," (John 4:24), which is supernatural, and not of the physical realm, therefore no man has seen God (John 1:18). For whatever reason, some scientists reject any notion of anything supernatural, and many therefore will not accept the Biblical narrative of creation (Gen 1:1; Heb 10-12), or of God's intervention, or the existence of true miracles which they cannot explain on a physical basis, or of spirit beings called angels and demons (Eze 28:12-15; Heb 1:7,14).
Man's science is the study of "nature" or natural things, using the scientific method, which is the gathering of evidence, making a hypothesis (a speculation or theory) of what the evidence reveals, and analyzing and testing the theory according to the laws of cause and effect (see "Mankind's Greatest Experiment").
A true scientist must be non-biased and completely objective. Rejection of the possibility of the supernatural realm to explain the cause and effect relationships is in reality non-scientific. Because much scientific evidence does not support Darwinian theories of evolution, many good scientists have rejected this unscientific stance in favor of what they call "Intelligent Design," trying to stay clear of any Biblical references. But strict anti-religious scientists ridecule this approach (because they can't disprove it scientifically), and have successfully promoted their bias by politically outlawing it from being taught in many schools.
How can You prove if God exists? What is some of the scientific evidence of God? Check out these Proofs:
The Creation requires a Creator!
Have you ever seen a house that didn't have a builder or a watch that didn't have a watchmaker?
King David was inspired to write: "The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork" (Psa. 19:1).
Nothing can come from nothing! According to the law of cause and effect, the Creation of the heavens and the earth and all physical things is the evidence of a Creator, One who planned, designed and created all things, from the atoms and living cells to plants, animals, mankind, the universe, galaxies, stars and earth (Gen 1; Job 38-41 & Isa. 45:18-22; John 1:1-3; Col 1:13-18; Heb 1:1-3). True faith comes from seeing and understanding the evidence (Rom 1:19-20; Heb 11:1,3).
Laws of the Creation require a Lawgiver and Sustainer!
The Laws of physics, chemistry, biology, genetics, etc., which scientists have discovered, and the 10 commandments revealed by God to man, etc. are proofs of a Lawgiver and Sustainer (Isa 33.:22; Heb. 1:3; Jam. 4:12). If the law of gravity was suspended for just a moment, the universe would be chaos.
Life requires a Lifegiver!
The Law of Biogenesis proves life can come only from preexisting life. Scientists don't know what life is or how it began (Ec. 3:10-11). All living organisms were created, and Life is a spiritual quality or gift from God, the Lifegiver (Gen. 2:7; Ec. 3:18-21; 8:8; Acts 17:25).
Mankind!
Man was made in image of God (Gen. 1:26-28), and is destined to become spirit born children of God (Psa 8:3-9; 1 Cor. 15:44-54; Heb 2:6-11; 1 John 3:1-3). You are a proof of God (Job 14:14-17; Isa. 45:9-12; Rev 21:3-7).
The Holy Bible & Holy Spirit!
The Bible is God's inspired revelation revealing Himself and His spiritual laws to man (Ex 24:1-4,7; Jer 36:1-4; Amos 3:7; Rom 13:8-10; 2 Tim. 3:16; Rev. 1:1-3; 22:18-19). God's gift of the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to understand God's Word and spiritual things (Acts 2:38; 5:32; 1 Cor 2:4-14). The accuracy of the Holy Scriptures can and are being proven hisorically and scientifically, but be aware that translations of the original Scriptures are not always correct.
Fulfilled Prophecy!
History gives proof of the accuracy of many OT prophecies already fulfilled (Isa. 46:8-11; Amos 3:7). Many prophecies are still being fulfilled including Revelation. The greatest prophecy is the Gospel (good news) of the coming Kingdom of God, which is a time when even atheists will know God exists and God will complete His plan of salvation for all mankind (Mk. 1:14-15; Eph. 1:13-14; 3:1-15; 2 Pet 3:9; Rev 11:15; 19:7-16; 20:5,11-15).
Answered prayer!
Answered prayers reveal God's intervention for us to give understanding or fulfill our requests (Prov. 15:29; Phil. 4:6; Acts 10:30-33) - a proof of God to those who ask and seek in faith (Mat. 6:5-13; 7:7-8; Jam. 1:5-7).
Who and What is God Like? (Isaiah Ch. 40:18-31)
No man has ever seen God, so how can we know what God is like? The Bible says, "...what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead..." (Rom. 1:19-20).
God is a Kingdom & Family. God "Elohim" means The Almighty Ones!
God the Father & Christ the Lord are ("YHVH," Jehovah, meaning Eternal)
(Isa 44:6-8,24; 45:18-23; 46:8-13; Mat 22:42-46; John 1:1-3; 4:24; Eph. 3:14-15)
God created man to become Children of God (Gen 1:26-28; 1 Joghn 3:1-3)
What are some attributes of God?
God is Spirit (John 4:24) - not physical matter and energy.
No wonder scientists can't find God, spirit is invisible (Col 1:15). If we could see God He would be brighter than the sun (Rev. 1:16). But what is spirit? Spirit could be likened to the spectrum of electromagnetic energy (Rom 1:19-20). Matter is made of energy (e = mc2). Energy is the power of the atom and the universe. Spirit is the power of God (Acts 1:8; 2 Tim 1:7-8). By His Spirit God created all things (Psa 104:4,30; Jer 10:12; Col 1:16-17).
Creation of Angelic Beings (Psa 104:4; Heb 1:7,14)
Creation of the Physical Universe (Gen 1:1)
Creation of Man from the dust (Gen 1:26-28; 2:7)
God is Eternal!
God has eternal life (Rom. 1:20; Heb. 9:14; 1 Jn. 1:2). Scientists proved matter and the physical universe had a beginning and is running down (called law of entrophy by scientists) and will be changed (Psa 102:24-27; Isa 51:6; Heb 1:10-12; 2 Pet 3:10-13; Rev 21:1).
God is Love!
All of God's laws are love (Mat 22:36-40; Rom 13:8-10; 1 Cor 13:4-8; 1 Jn. 4:7-16). Also God is just (Deut 32:4), merciful, gracious, longsuffering (Ex 34:6), etc…
God created the angels!
Angels are spirit beings created before God created the earth. They were created to be helpers of man (Job 38:4-7; Heb 1:7,14), but some rebelled and became Satan and the demons, gods of this world (2 Cor. 4:4; 11:14; Eph 2:2; Rev 12:3-4,9).
God created the heavens and earth for mankind (Gen. 1:1: Isa. 45:18; Rev 21:7)!
When Satan and a third of the angels rebelled, causing chaos and ruin on the earth (Gen. 1:2; Isa. 14:12-15; Eze. 28:12:17; Rev. 20:3,7-10), God renewed the face of the earth and created new life on it and planted a garden in Eden (meaning Paradise) for man (Gen. 1:2-31; 2:8; Ps. 104:30). Man will inherit all creation (Ps 8:3-9; 37:9-11; Mat 5:3,5,10; Heb 2:5-8; 9:15; Rev 21:7).
God is a Family Kingdom!
Which includes God the Father and Jesus Christ the firstborn Son and angels composed of Spirit (Job 38:1-7; John 1:1-3; 4:24; 1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 3:15; Heb 1:7). God is NOT a 3 in 1 trinity with 3 personalities. The Lord God (the Word of the OT) gave up eternity to be born as Jesus (from "Jehoshua," meaning The Lord, Eternal, and Savior - Isa 43:1,3,11-12,25; 45:15,18,22; 1 Cor 10:4), the Son of Man (Jn. 1:1, 14; Phil. 2:5-11). He become the firstborn Son of God the Father (Lk. 1:31-33,35; Col. 1:15-23; Heb. 5:5-9) and the firstborn of many brethren (Rom. 8:29; 1 John 3:1-3).
God is increasing His Family!
God made man - to increase His family (Ps. 8:3-9; Isa. 9:7; Rom. 8:19). The Gospel is the good news revealing God's plan to save man from his sins and bring him into the Family and Kingdom of God through our Savior Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:6-11; Eph. 1:3-14; 3:14-15).
Does God Care About Me? How Can I Know?
Many feel that God doesn't care about them. How can you know? The Bible gives many proofs of His love and concern for us. Read it!
God made us in His image, to become like Him and have eternal life as spirit born children to share His glory and power and love and joy forever in His Family and Kingdom (Gen. 1:26; John 1:12-13; 3:3-15) - but we have to become righteous like Him before we can receive the gift of eternal life (Mat. 5:48; 6:33; 1 Cor. 6:9-11).
God gave us His righteous laws to teach us His ways of love, peace, joy, and abundance of every good thing. Check them out! (Deut. 4; 5; 6; 28:1-14; Mat. 4:4; 5; 6; 7; 22:36-40; Rom. 13:8-10; 1 Jn. 5:1-5)
God also gives us access to His Holy Spirit to help us become like Him and overcome all evil (John 1:12-13; Acts 2:38; 5:32; Rom 8; 2 Tim. 1:7; Rev 21:7).
Why then do many feel God doesn't care? Because they have ignored or rejected His Word, so He will not listen to them (Psa. 66:18; Isa. 59:1-2). Man's sins causes suffering and death (Gal. 6:7; Rom. 6:23), but God "is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish [forever], but that all should come to repentance" (2 Pet. 3:9). He wants to give us His blessings of abundance and eternal life (Isa 55:1-13; Mat. 19:16-21; John 10:10).
The greatest proofs of God's love for all mankind are revealed in His Masterplan of Salvation - His 7 annual Sabbaths, the commanded Holy Day "Feasts ("moed," meaning appointments or appointed times) of the Lord" summarized in Leviticus 23. The OT outlines the plan and the NT reveals their full meaning and fulfillments. The rewards of keeping them are great (Ps. 19:7-11; 111:10).
The Passover
The Word ("Logos," Spokesman of the God Family to Israel) in the OT gave up His glory as God to be born as the Son of God and Son of Man as Jesus Christ and offered His life for our sins to make our redemption possible, thereby demonstrating God's love for you and me (Ex 12:2-14; John 1:1,14; 2:23; 3:16; Lk. 1:30-35; Rom 5:6-11; 1 Cor 5:7; Phil 2:5-11; Heb 2:9-18; 4:14-15; 9:11-15; 10:3-18; 1 John 4:9-11 - also see "Passover...The Beginning of Salvation").
The 7 Days of Unleavened Bread
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to deliver us and feed us the unleavened bread of life leading us to repentance by coming out of sin and keeping God's laws (Ex 12:15-20; John 3:16-17; 6:32-35; Rom 2:4; 1 Cor. 5:6-8; 10:1-22; Heb. 3:14-19 See "Passover...").
The Day of Pentecost
God's Law and the Holy Spirit are given to God's Church ("ekklesia", the called out ones) to write His laws in their hearts and minds to become the firstfruits of salvation (Lev 23:15-17; John 14:15-17,26; Acts 1:4-5,8; 2:1-4; 5:27-32; Rom. 8:14-23; Eph. 1:13; Heb 12:18-24; Rev 14:4-5; Ex. 19 - 24; Jer. 31:31-37 - Also see "The Mystery of Pentecost...").
Memorial of Blowing of Trumpets
A reminder to God's church to preach the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God at the return of Jesus Christ (Messiah) and the resurrection of saints to immortality to rule with Christ at the last trumpet, and to warn world of God's judgment to come (Lev 23:24; Isa 58:1; Joel 2:1-19; Mat 24:3,30-31; 28:19-20; Acts 1:11; 1 Thes. 4:16-17; Rev. 11:15; 17:14; 19:1-16; 20:4, 6; Num. 10:1-10; 29:1 - Also see "The Feast of Trumpets...").
The Day of Atonement
After Christ returns Satan will be restrained for 1000 years no longer able to tempt and deceive man (Rev 12:9), and the rest of mankind will receive atonement for their sins (Lev 16; 23:27-32; Rev. 20:2-3 - See also "The Day of Atonement").
The Feast of Tabernacles
Prophetic of the time of the Kingdom of God on earth with Christ and saints ruling and teaching God's laws to all nations of God's way of blessings and eternal life (Lev 23:34-43; Rev. 5:10; 20:6; Zech. 14:16-19; Isa. 2:1-4; Dan. 2:34-35, 44).
The Last Great Day
Prophetic of the 2nd resurrection to restore the unsaved dead to mortal life and time of judgment when all are given opportunity to repent and choose life or be destroyed forever in a lake of fire (Lev 23:39,41; Mat 11:20-24; 12:41-42; John 5:28-29; 7:37-38; 2 Pet. 3:9-15; Rev. 20:5,11-15; Eze. 37:1-14) - After this will come the...
New Heavens & New Earth...
wherein dwells righteousness (2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 21 & 22)
